The recent wet and showery weather on the east coast, a god-send for many (and becoming a nuisance for some), has resulted in difficulty in maximizing the efficacy of pesticide sprays. Constant showers makes it hard to complete a paddock spray or even enable the spray to dry on the crop, resulting in loss of rainfastness and in-effectual results as sprays are washed from the crop. In many cases, the weather stops the spray from being done resulting in breakouts of weeds, pests and diseases. Insecticides, fungicides and herbicide sprays are all affected.
Growers and spray contractors can improve their chances of obtaining best results from their pesticide application by adding a spray oil penetrant such as Protec Plus.
Proof of this added effectiveness is shown in a trial conducted using glyphosate with a range of adjuvants including Protec Plus at 250ml/100L and 500ml/100L.
Results indicated that without rain the two rates of Protec Plus had faster "brown-out" and better overall kill, but when 50mm of rainfall was deliberately applied to the plots 20 minutes after herbicide application, the 500ml/100L rate of Protec Plus shone through, with other treatments not withstanding the effect of the rain.
This result strongly supports the claim that Protec Plus sprays are rain fast within minutes of application, giving the farmer or applicator more flexibility and safety margin in showery weather. It dramatically improves wetting, sticking and penetrating ability of chemicals, maximizing the speed of activity.
Protec Plus will maximize the performance of horticultural and agrochemical sprays by increasing droplet deposition, droplet spread and uptake into the target. It is also designed to aid the formulation of uniformly sized spray droplets, to reduce water evaporation and therefore minimize drift.
Protec Plus is non-phytotoxic at recommended rates and is compatible with most commonly applied chemicals including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and other foliar sprays. Do not mix with Bravo® or Dormex®.
Protec Plus contains non-ionic surfactants and can be used where-ever non-ionic surfactants or spray oils are recommended.
